Cancer Rehabilitation
Cancer treatment can leave you feeling tired and fatigued – in fact, research shows that between 55 and 100 percent of all cancer patients experience cancer-related fatigue. PCRMC offers a Cancer Rehabilitation program to help patients manage and reduce the side effects of cancer, including:
- physical fatigue
- pain
- nausea
- sleep disturbance
- heart disease
- osteoporosis
- lymphedema
- peripheral neuropathy
Research has proven that activity, not rest, is the key to reducing cancer-related fatigue. Cancer patients who participate in a cancer rehabilitation program typically recover more quickly after treatment. PCRMC Cancer Rehabilitation is a 12 week program with 24 sessions designed to help patients improve their physical abilities and decrease fatigue.
Patients work one-on-one with experienced and friendly therapists and staff on a tailored exercise and education program. The program is designed to provide patients with many benefits, including:
- improved quality of life
- reduced fatigue
- increased muscular strength
- decreased anxiety, stress and depression
- reduced risk of cardiovascular disease
- reduction of pain and increased pain tolerance
- better tolerance for chemotherapy treatments
- strengthened immune system
- improved mobility
- lower risk for diabetes
