Echo Vascular Lab
The Echo Vascular Lab at PCRMC provides cardiac and vascular ultrasound imaging. The Echo Vascular Lab staff are credentialed and highly trained in adult and pediatric echocardiograms, venous duplex exams, carotid duplex exams, arterial duplex exams, and arterial Doppler exams.
Services
Adult and pediatric echocardiograms: Echocardiograms use high-frequency sound waves to create an image of the heart. The exam provides important information about the structure and function of the heart that is useful for evaluating patients with congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, valvular heart disease and other concerns.
Venous duplex exams: Venous duplex exams use high frequency sound waves to create an image of a blood vessel. This exam is often used to look for a thrombus (blood clot) that is obstructing blood flow when deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is suspected. The test is also used to determine if venous insufficiency is present. Venous insufficiency is a condition wear the valves within the veins do not work correctly allowing blood to flow backwards within the vein.
Carotid Duplex Exam: Carotid duplex exams use high frequency sound waves to create an image of a blood vessel or artery. The test can identify and evaluate plaque build-up that may impede blood flow to the brain or cluster in formations that could break off and travel to the brain. This exam is usually performed on patients that have a bruit, had a stroke (CVA) or mini stroke (TIA). A bruit is an abnormal noise that a physician hears when listening to your neck.
Arterial Duplex Exam: Arterial duplex exams use high frequency sound waves to create an image of a blood vessel or artery. The exam identifies plaque build up within the vessel that may be obstructing blood flow. This exam is usually performed on patients where peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is suspected. PAD is usually seen in long term smokers and diabetics.
Arterial Doppler Exam: Arterial Doppler exams use high frequency sound waves to create an image of a blood vessel or artery. This exam is usually performed on patients where peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is suspected. PAD is usually seen in long term smokers and diabetics.
