Psychiatric Services

Mission:
The mission of the Center for Psychiatric Services is to be the preferred acute care psychiatric provider and employer in South Central Missouri. This is being accomplished through the following: recruitment and retention of qualified and competent staff, excellent care and treatment, effective performance improvement processes, cost-effective approaches and by excellent customer service.

Acute Psychiatric Hospitalization

Philosophy
Individuals who experience severe emotional, psychiatric, psychological or behavioral problems to such a level of intensity and severity as to contraindicate their living in the home environment due to the potential risk factors, may benefit from acute psychiatric hospitalization that provides the behavioral, emotional and physical safe environment, while completing assessments, evaluation, stabilization and continued care. The process may include medical and psychiatric management including the use of clinically indicated medications in order for the individuals to regain some internal controls necessary to transition into a lesser level of care.

The Center for Psychiatric Services has established and maintains an interdisciplinary staff of psychiatrists, psychologists, master's level therapists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, therapeutic recreation specialist, patient care assistants and consultants as indicated. The professional staff members are privileged to conduct therapies based on their training, experience and current competence. Although the therapeutic approaches used by staff are based on their training and expertise, only specific treatment modalities approved by the medical staff and the governing body is permitted through the privileging process.

The staff of the Center believes that each patient must be treated with respect as a valuable human being who has the potential to become a productive, positive and contributing member of society. The Center insures that each patient and significant other is knowledgeable about the patients' rights and privacy practices that are protected by law. The Center does not discriminate against, exclude from admission or fail to provide services to patients because of race, gender, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, handicap and source of financial support or any other right protected by state or federal law.

Goals of Treatment

• Provide a safe, structured and medically managed milieu during the course of assessment, stabilization and referral
• Conduct multi-disciplinary assessments and evaluations in order to plan an effective treatment disposition, safety plan and aftercare plan
• Provide medication management as indicated to reduce the severity of emotions and behaviors in order to accommodate treatment at a lesser level of care
